I just read a report the other day in regards to someone catching a few crappies in and around the Marinas close to the bay.

I would assume the marina directly off the river from the head of the bay would be a rather good place. Also, the linden marina, and any other one that has bubblers installed. Might have a little warmer water. IF there was ice right now, Crappies are usually found within a couple inches of the bottom of the ice. That is why last ice can be really good. With no ice, I would be trying to target them right now.

Hey Rich, did you ever try the cuts and canals on the Grand River around Diamondale? Got into them out there before all the subdivisions sprung up. Fishing off the bank.

Hey thanks for the info I may do a little scouting this weekend but with this cold snap everything is probably skimmed over with ice but it will be worth checking out.

larry, I fished those cuts two years ago, and if you hit it right they can be a lot of fun, got a few real nice crappie in there, mostly around 10 inches, but a few around the 14 mark.

yeah, I am still here, can't get rid of me that easy . LOL!
working 6 days a week, mostly ten hr days, does not leave much time to fish...... have not been out at all.
just started to clean and prep the boat for spring, also have to re-do the brakes on the trailer, it has hydraulic brakes and the master cylinder unit is shot, have new parts ordered, and hope to get it back going this week.
right now would be a good time to go fish the cuts around Dimondale, the crappie should be in them by now.
I hope to get out fishing next week, at least for an hr or so after work.
I would love to make it to the spring outing, but as busy as we are at work , not sure if I can make it , so if I can go , it will be a last minute thing.
    take care all!!

Holy cow, is that John?? There is a show on TV (mountain Bounty hunters, or something like that). There is a guy on there that could be John's twin brother!

I've fished some of the canals around Grand Point Marina back in the subdivision. Done really well for crappies. Especially during last ice. Once you get in with someone, you can get out on the ice. Not an issue getting back in there with a boat. This time of year should just about be perfect.

My wife is from Diamondale and my father in law taught school there. Pretty familiar with the area. There is a really nice cut just up river from the Waverly street bridge that I like to fish. Expecially in the winter.
