    Default Tackle storage

    Dear Abby,

What are you using to store tackle? Do you take it all with you when you go out, or do you have a plan and only take certain things?
Ive outgrown my tackle bag. I grew up fishing for whatever is biting. If panfish were slow, I could throw lure for pike. If bass were hot, I had a lure for that. With that I had to have all my tackle and all my rods every trip. That creates clutter, Especially with the old man in the boat(he has two large tackle bags and a pole for every species of fish). I don't like clutter. I'm going to attempt to be more "purposeful" or "specific" in my fishing this year. Attack the water with a plan, while keeping flexibility close by. Cut down on what all I bring each outing. I don't really need a Musky lure when I'm spider rigging.

On a specific note, how do you organize your jig bodies and tube baits? Now days everything comes soaking in some form of enhancement. How do you keep the packages organized?

    My tackle storage is struggling.
    I need some fresh ideas.

    Signed,
    Cluttered Tackle Box

Well, I was in the same boat for awhile. I pretty much have storage for everything now. Certain things stay in the boat all the time like terminal tackle. Hooks, sinkers, bobbers, swivels all are in a tackle bag.

For soft plastics I have two bags. One will hold two rows of minnow or shad bags or worms as the zip lock style baggies are all the same size. As for my twisters, tubes, and charlie brewers, those are the same baggies and I have a bag those go in.

For my walleye jigs, I buy boxes from Meijer in the auto department. They are about 25 bucks each and have removable boxes.

I know some buy different boxes from harbor freight.

They are Stanley boxes. About 12x14. Black bottom, see through top, yellow removable bins. They come in multiple depths with heavy locking clasps and are stackable. The thin ones are great for tubes. I like that each bin comes out. I'll shoot a pic tomorrow. Pm me your number and I'll text it to you.

Sorry it took me so long to post a picture of this.

These are Stanley boxes. They are made in several depths. I purchase the larger ones to hold all of my walleye fishing jigs in different sizes. The one pictured holds some of my jig pouring stuff. They come with an assortment of box sizes and I find that if you purchase two of them, you can customize each box with the correct sizes you would like. They also sell shallow depth ones for smaller jigs, terminal tackle and tubes. They are stackable too.

I use my barn to store tackle , it would not all fit in the boat ..even if I had three boats!!!!
mostly I use plano storage boxes, clear so I can see in them.
I was pulling bandits down south in tournaments a few years ago, probably have a couple hundred of them.......
my name is John and I have a problem.....OTBD (OBSESSIVE TACKLE BUYING DISORDER)
making my own spinners for walleye now, so you may see me in various craft shops looking at pretty beads.
oh I also have a couple of the big tote bags that are made just for plano boxes, so if I go for walleye I just load a couple bags up with my walleye tackle , if crappie, , just a quick swap of plano boxes and I am good to go!!
