Good luck should be good day on the water
Well, I have not had a chance to fish since Early September. I thought I had hung up my paddle and pole for the year; but, heck, I'm already getting spring fever. Weather Thursday looks promising. Only supposed to be 50 degrees but there should hardly be any wind so I am going to give it one last try for the year. I'm really not that great at finding and landing specks in the fall (especially this late in the season) but we will see what happens. Just praying the weather stays on track.

Good luck should be good day on the water
get in, sit down, shut up and fish
Good luck, and be safe.

Unapplied biblical truth is like unapplied paint...how many gallons do you have sittin' around? U.D.
I'm not ready to call it quits just yet. Fished Friday over off the bruin chain and kept 27 nice fish. Biggest was13 inches. Sorry, no pictures as I was sitting in the middle and was somehow stuck getting bait for everyone
The old man, wife, daughter, and i, got out on sunday for a couple hours. Had a bunch of good bites, got a couple to the boat, but landed none.
We started at one side of the lake and just drifted with the wind, then repeted. We had rods in the water all over. I laughed and said "i dont think this what they mean by spider rigging". We were a little less organized than most. LoL
However, my daughter found her spot on the front deck. With this new spot, she somehow figured out how to cast good. Its like the freedom and space up front gave her the confidence she needed i guess.
Here fishy, fishy, fishy...
Love the cow girl boots.
Next time you are out, try 1/16, 1/8 oz jigs and very your leads. This way you can cover more of the column until you find the best depth. Remember that you want the bait as vertical as possible. Use you trolling motor and put the boat into the wind. Move at .1 to .4 mph. Find the drop offs were you transition from 8ft to deeper water. Minnows have been good lately
The lake is only 100acres and 27' deep. No drop offs to speak of. 1/8th oz is what I was using, I think my wife was dragging the same or smaller, and the old man was bigger. I kept mine deep, the old man around 15-20', and I'd guess the wife was around 10-15'. She and I got bites.
The wind was blowing the boat faster than we wanted, and I haven't got a good trolling motor battery in yet. I limited my use of that for the most part.
This particular trip was more or less to give the girls a ride in the new boat before the snow flies. Neither had been in it since I bought it. The old man and I wanted to see how much room we had with that many people, and how cramped the boat might feel having women on board.
Either way I think it was a success. Starting next spring we will have all our ducks in a row, and we will get after some fish.
