    Default Gloves

Hay Friends, was wondering what type gore tex glove you use in the winter to fish with, and if you are able to hook a minnow with them on . Thanks for any info.

I have been told that I am pretty lucky as it appears my hands never get cold. In reality, they get cold like everyone else, I must be too dumb to realize it!!

Personally, I don't wear Gore Tex. Most of them seem to be too bulky and just don't keep my hands warm. I wear as thin of glove as possible. This keeps the dextarity in my hands but allows me to put them in my pocket when not in use. I do carry a couple of pairs in case one gets wet. Also, when I move from one spot to another (ice fishing, or in the boat) I put on a thicker pair of gloves.

If I want something waterproof, I go to the hardware and buy knit backed goves with a rubber hand. The new ones are insulated and worked pretty well during Walleye season on the river. Hands stay dry and you can hook a monnow.

During Ice fishing, I wear a couple different kinds. I wear a Manzelli Glove liner (real thin) in "Black". Keeps hands warm from the sun. When moving (or in colder weather) I wear a simple insulated Leather glove. You can get them on and off easy, they are thicker and insulated.

My new favorite is a mid sized "north face" glove. It is all black, a little thicker than a glove liner, and provides a little more insulation. The big key is keeping the wind off your hands. I also have under armour and some fleece goves but the North Face and Manzelli gloves are by far the best.

For steelhead fishing on the river, I wear wool gloves.

    Hope this helps
