They say a round head jig swims the best. I don’t know about that, but if they do, these will swim well. I like the flat back for attaching baits. 1/16th ounce Do-It Worm Nose mold. I have had this mold for a while but hadn’t made any jigs with it in some time.
The Eagle Claw 571 short shank hook is my favorite. I wanted to see if I could find a new favorite. On Ebay I encountered a sale on a Mustad Ultra Point hook coated in red. I don’t believe in BigFoot, nor red hooks, but the price was pretty good. I might like them, we shall see I guess.
There are many things that go into a successful jig, but no part is more important than the hook matey. I made some Bat Jigs that had a #6 Whacky hook and the fish would bite and escape. Almost half the fish found freedom. Same jig, same hook, only size #2 this time, and a completely different experience was had by all. You can take the same hook and change out the head sizes, or styles and get different results. Different techniques of fishing can create good results with a jig, or bad results. Just depends. So these things happen and over time we develop favorites that we rely on. These are jigs that match up with how we choose to fish them.
I suppose there are some fishermen that none of that applies, and some jigs may be like that as well, but I am betting that we all have our favorites because of the variables.
