Love me some CFB and MU tigers are playing the other tigers from Memphis in STL Dome tonight. They pulled off a great last second win last week to a team that beat the bejeebers out of them last season so life is good at 3 and 0 but so is Memphis. We shall see how they are in this game.

On other side the BB coach Gates is killing it on recruiting trail with another great class and got commit from top player from AR who chose them over home state AR. right now they have the TOP rated class in country! won't last of course when KY and Kansas start handing out the Big Bucks buying players.

I was a ND fan when Brian Kelly was there. He won a National Championship at my alma mater Grand Valley State University.. I will probably be cheering them on again tonight

Congratulations. Notre Dame, in their fancy outfits, sure put up a fight. I thought they looked pretty good. I tuned in for just the last bit of the first half. Nothing nothing. Then I went back to see my Fightin Gators.


We looked ineffective against a cupcake team. Their defense was pretty good though. The offensive play calls were lousy. They scripted the first possession and scored, then forgot what to do. Our defense did so-so, and kept their score low. They had a running QB and he ripped us when he ran the ball.

Penalties penalties penalties. I hate it when the umpire thinks we came to see him. No seriously, they feel that it is their job to determine winners and losers and it sucks. I saw a ref call defensive holding, the receiver came down with the ball out of bounds, they called that a completion, so the offense declined the penalty and took the play. Then they decided they needed to do a reply, and decided the receiver came down out of bounds, making the catch incomplete, then they changed the call to pass interference. Even though penalties are not part of the replay system and cannot be arbitrarily changed. I also saw some targeting that was not called. I think they are getting blowback from being too aggressive to call it, and are now passing on hits where the crown of the helmet is being applied to people’s heads. I mean I like a big hit and all, but the idea is to prevent fractured necks, traumatic brain injuries and such. Call it if it is there. The replay can always undo the call later.

This is a good year in that the regular champions are not doing well and we can have a chance for some of the smaller programs to get lucky. I dislike the FSU Criminoles, but they got real lucky against Clemson. I suppose they will flail us pretty good by the time we meet at the end of the season. I heard Georgia looked weak, and there are no better crybabies anywhere than bulldog fans. Sometimes they bark and sometimes they cry. We play them around Halloween each year, and we have to go to a neutral site because they no longer want to play in The Swamp. So to get a game scheduled, we have to go to Jacksonville, or else they will stay home and pout. Poor bull dog.

In past years I have spent far too long in front of my TV watching football on the weekends. Waste of my precious time. Yesterday, we went to Wally World and got us some bicycles. I looked at the bike shops and they only sell really really expensive bikes. Saw a $15,000 bike in one. I was so put off after two shops that I tripped the light fantastic and went to China Shoppe USA. I try to avoid Wally’s World but they had bikes we could get at a price more in tune with our figurings.

We each picked out something, and she got a hybrid and I got a mountain man bike. She imagines riding the asphalt, and me the rugged cliff face of the escarpment. She wants to apply stickers and bags and lights and a bell to her bikes. I want night vision and bear spray. My first accessory wasn’t a sticker that is for sure. I got me a giant fat and smooth seat. They one the bike came with was scary and I worried I would be spavined. ( Yes, you should look that word up. You will use it yourself.)

I wonder if Lance got testicular amputation surgery due to his seat being impractical or was it a reaction to his doping ?

Anyways, I got the biggest fattest seat there is because I want to be safe and keep what the old man provided me.

This morning we go on our first ride. I already know I will need handle bar extensions. I want to sit more upright and not hunched over. They sell risers and they sell risers that pivot towards and away. I’ll order what I need after we got done and I get a feel for the bike and how it rides. Probably get me a GPS speedometer thingie thing so I can lie to my doctor about how far we ride. Lie to her about how fast I went down that big hill. Tell her I have to let it cool down some as I walk the bike up that same hill. Stuff like that.

I couldn’t switch the channel. I sat and watched what a coach’s motivation can accomplish. The Ducks played clean and they played hard, and ESPN celebrities didn’t matter. They played well, too. Plenty of athleticism on the field, both teams. I watched and I actually cheered for them Ducks till the final whistle. I have always liked their uniforms.
