try an auto glass shop
Yes, a glass shop deals with removing door panels and window motors all the time. Probly better than a dealer. If nothing else have them diagnose the problem and get the parts from the junk yard. Hope this helps.
My addiction is a cure not a disease.
ford are easy to change 1 plug in and 3 bolts , 30 min job
This must be a common problem. I see a lot of folks at the McWindow having to open the driver door to pay and pick up the Macs.
My Buick had similar problem and so did my Caddy.
Bought a Toyota. Windows still work.

All of the switches have given me problems(it's a supercrew). I just simply pop out the switch. On mine you can pull the trim off of the door handle and pull the switch up and out. Unplug it and take the cover off of the switch(you have to hold unclip both sides to get it off) and you can see the contacts for the switch. For some reason they constantly get residue buildup in them which hampers the contact. I then take a small file and clean the contacts and it starts working like new. I do this about every 6 months or so.
I have also had the wire come off the regulator on the drivers side window. Window just fell to the bottom of the door. IT wasn't too hard to change....it's expensive , though. I have a relative that owns a service shop so he was able to get it to me for $180.
These windows have a couple problems, Switch is one an the other being
window regulator and motor. If you can play with the switch and get it to work. Than replace the switch. If you hear the window tring to go down or
up but not going no where. Than the regulator is bad but I would install
a motor at the same time. If nothing happens when you press the window switch hit your door panel with your hand. If the window starts working. Than replace the motor. Hope this HELPS! By the way I am a FORD TECH.
When my regulator went out, I was unable to purchase just the regulator. The dealer was the only place to get it and you had to buy the whole assembly....regulator/motor/and rails.
I pull wrenches for a living too, and ditto to what purpleworm said.
On my 97 F-150 XLT Lariat, it was the switch. Also the Mirror switch.

I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
