    Default Compression

I was looking at a boat for sale and the ad said that one cylinder had low compression.I was wanting to know how to fix it or how much it would cost to fix.The motor is a 200 Ficht and I have never heard of that brand.

A Ficht is just an Evinrude. Its hard to say how much it would cost to fix it. You have to find out why it is low and what caused it. There's a good chance it would require a complete overall. If its a 1999 or 2000 model, Bombardier issued a recall on them for something. I forget what.

I agree...you will just be getting someone elses problem. Not a good thing for you to do. No telling what the damage is...and no telling what "low compression" is. Could be 60psi....could be 3psi...who knows.

The early Ficht engines did have alot of problems with them...I'm sure there are some that didn't out there...but many did.

I figured it was a bad deal. The boat is a 99 stratos.I might tell them I will give them 1000.00 for the boat and try and find a good motor for it.
