    Question Need livewell help

I have a 1999 Duracraft 1754 SVCRC boat. It is a crappie version bass boat. It has an optional livewell in front of the console but it is not plumbed up. The rear livewell has a stand pipe for overflow and a diaphragm pump supplies the water. Does anyone have a Duracraft boat that has a working livewell that can help me plumb mine up? I think I can “t” into the supply line and get water into the livewell, but I’m not sure how to get it out? I really like the boat, but it is a pain to get up to take a fish to the rear livewell. THANKS!!!

Can you attach a picture of the livewell? I'd like to see what kinda drain is in the compartment now.

There is no drain in the compartment. I’ll get a picture and add it. It is just a box on the bottom of the console with no holes at all.

I have a 1988 Bass Tracker and the livewell has a standpipe that wedges into the drain hole.See if your boat has an exit hole on the side of the boat that water could drain out of, if so pull up on standpipe.

There isn’t a hole in the side for a drain. And the compartment doesn’t go all the way to the side of the boat. I would like to have a standpipe in it. It looks like removing 7 rivets and I could move the console. Then I could put a standpipe fitting in, drill a hole in the floor above a rib that runs the length of the boat and “t” into the drain for the back livewell. There is a gap between the floor and the bottom of the compartment so the fitting would need to drop down before it 90’s towards the back. Surely someone has a boat like this that has the front livewell plumbed up and can tell me how the factory did it. There are a couple of ways I can think of but that aren’t as neat as I would like,

Most boats either had a hose that ran to the back or just a thru-hull in the bottom or side of the boat near the livewell to drain it.

Sounds like it is a storage compartment, not a livewell. I would want to make sure it is strong enough to hold water. If it has a drop-in liner I wouldn't attempt it.

If you can get underneath it to install a fitting and hose you can drain it out the side if you can get a fitting in the side of the boat that is lower than the bottom of the compartment. Worst case, you can rig up a bilge pump and hose and drop it in the water to fill it. You could use that same pump to empty it, but it would never remove all the water and would be a pain to do so.

I am going to fill it with water to make sure it will hold it. I can’t find any information on 1999 model boats, but before it and after it advertises it as an optional front live well. I would like to plumb it up the same as a factory one, but the bilge pump idea is something I have thought of. Don’t really want to, but that might be the way to go. And I agree, it will be a pain to get all the water out!

It was probably an option from the factory, meaning they built it differently.
