I’m guessing here. But does it do it the same in forward and reverse?

Haven’t checked it much in reverse, never paid attention to in reverse, but if it done it in reverse I should of heard it, so I don’t think it does it in reverse, but not positive though.
The 4 strokes might be popular and and all thats available now, but I love my old 150 2 cycle Opti Max. My wife's tritoon carries a 250 Honda. I will say you cant here the thing run. I have to look back quite ofter to see of it's running or not. The Honda is more expensive to run due to oil changes. I don't really see the advantage of the four strokes. Your milage may varry.

How much is an oil change? Gallon of oil and a filter? Every hundred hours you would be burning between what 200 and 2500 gallons of fuel (depending on RPM's)? That's 4-50 gallons of TCW-3 oil at $25 a gallon minimum. For the guy running wide open (25 GPH) a 4 stroke is a no brainer as far as "expenses".

Lets please stick to this topic (Prop Chatter) as I as well as others are continuously learning from threads like these. If you want to debate the pros and cons of 2 VS. 4 strokes please start another thread.
Danny, please let us know what the dealer states was the culprit of your chatter.
Thanks all,

Mechanic called from marina and said motor was in specs and nothing can be done under warranty, still got 3 years left. So we will see.
I checked in reverse and it did not make any noise the other direction, it put a different load on the set to gears on bottom so no noise, after coming back from mechanic the noise is very subtle, gotta really listen to hear. So he says nothing can can be done. Did not charge me anything to look at the boat.

Yours is the first time I’ve heard of an aluminum prop that chattered. I was hoping the mechanic would find a smoking gun that was the culprit. Oh well, maybe next time…
Thanks for the update!
FYI, in every case I’ve heard of, a change to a flo-torq4 hub fixed the noise. In those instances they all had heavy stainless props.
