Thread: Which way does this seal go?

Reference above link. Part #13 (10-13). It is a prop shaft seal. The box with the arrow pointing to part #13, what is that supposed to be?
When I removed it, tried to slowly, it flew across the shed!! I might have said a few dirty words !! Think Yosemite Sam
Trying to figure out which way to put new seal back in. I can't tell from the diagram. Does it matter?
Engine is a 2015 Tohatsu 9.8 4 stroke.

Also, part 61 (10-61), thrust holder Amazon.com , does that go with the splines to the inside? Or, splines out, towards the hub?
If installed wrong, could this cause an issue?
