Ive always had the Minn Kota Edge but it's time for a new motor and I'm looking at the Maxxum. Does the the maxxum bow mount motor make noise when its starts off on low by clanking metal mount connections? The edge has done this since it was new and got worst over time. Just been working around it for years. Any info on only the Maxxum would be appreciated

Thanks for the info. I will ask him but the local pickup only at 16 hours round trip is a bit much on the purchase
Had one many moons ago hated it if ever having to run on high could never let your foot off of the pedal as the trolling motor would take off to one side was not as bad at lower speeds. I was never so glad when it went down the road
I was wondering about that being a problem with the little fin and big fat submarine looking housing. I'm driving across the state to get one in the morning. Got to better than the 45lb 12v 5speed or smaller motors I've used for 35yrs
Buy you a G-Force Troll Perfect. Takes out all the torque and makes it much easier to steer at higher speeds. I’ve used them for years and wouldn’t have a cable steer trolling motor without one.
Yep the maxxum will be hard to keep straight at high speeds. There's a lot of torque when running wide open but day in day out the maxxum is a very dependable trolling motor. I had one on my current boat for years until i took it off a couple months ago to replace it with a spot lock terrova. I've had maxxums for way over 20 years & liked them a lot.
I started to buy a used 70lb maxxum, serial number started with P so 2015 that was said to be a year old in 2023 but it looked funny compared to the newer ones. the motor was larger and less pointed on front , the fin was smaller and at rear, The shaft was almost center of the motor. no wonder it had control issues. I bought a new maxxum 65lb 24v from basspro. Big upgrade from the 45lb 12v edge that came new on my boat. where my 12v battery since new would be at 60% at the end of the day my 24v run just the same is at 95% at the end of the day. Digital maximizer does its job. I dont run down the bank wide open for bass so speed isnt my thing but 4mph is what it will run
Have owned three boats with a Maxxum . tough , durable love the variable speed .
