Be patient with me not even sure how to explain this to ask my questions.
2008 75hp Optimax.
Acc panel everything works but live well.
Control/info panel everything works but the fuel gauge.
How it all started was the live well pump wouldn't come on. I opened the panel up to investigate.
1. 12v cigarette plug in has its own dedicated wire. With one hot and 2 grounds. It works.
2. Navigational Lights have its own power source it works.
3. Wiring harness from engine I'm assuming appears to have 2 hot wires....one is heavier gauge than the other and one ground. It feeds the bilge and it works.....harness also feeds aerator and it does not work...I have verified the aerator will run when jumped to the battery
It appears the acc panel was grounded to the hull. Does this make sense?
Also my fuel gauge doesn't work now.
The logic behind the way the boat people did it seems flawed. Anybody got any insight on the right way. And can you help me understand that harness. When I look at it I got refrigerator blindness.
Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chad

Bout the time I buttoned it up I thought about that. Very baci to the boat this evening and I'll send some. Just remembered I got some of the carnage. I'll send some better ones with notes. I'm at a Varsity wood bat tourney

It appears to be some melted insulation on those wires. I would start by redoing those connections for sure

My first thoughts as to why are perhaps the gauge wire is too small and of course the ole short.

Those female spade connectors canget loose in a hurry. Most failures on new electrical connections would be human error.

Human error...As in a naked ground just dangling around
What would be wrong with putting the aerator on the dedicated wire to the 12v plug in. Odds are I would never plug in anything stronger than a cell charger

Nothing at all wrong with it. I like to have a 12 volt power outlet onboard just for things that need to be plugged in. USB outlets are nice also.
