So i decided to replace the impeller on my mercury 2004 60hp bigfoot .all going well take off everything and found this..

yes it was sitting for abit how would i go about cleaning this wire brush??

A hand held wire brush should get most if not all of that off.

Fresh water only but when I looked at the impeller housing
The top hole rubber bushing was onto of it not in the hole fixed that.
So may be that and previous owner beached it on the bank

I took pics as I was going along since this was my first time
Doing this so im assuming this is not right fir the rubber boot to be in this podition.

Find your motor and look at exploded parts views.

There are other web sources,this was just a quick google search.

Speaking of wire brushes, the Dollar General has a three pack of wire brushes that are similar looking to a tooth brush, handy for use in small or tight areas.
They used to be a dollar, but thanks to inflation they are now $1.25. I keep 'em around the garage and find use for them often.
