Seat attachments
Guys I need some help here. I used to know these things but since I've had my brain injury I sometimes don't trust myself.
I want to mount a short pedestal to an aluminum bench seat that has flotation under it. My first thought was to use fat sheet metal screws. Now Im afaid that it won't hold stong enough. What do you think? The bottom plate in the photo will be removed.

Regarding bolts:
Thats what I thought too. The flotation is in the way underneath. May I should drill a channel in the flotation to get the bolt in?
Regarding a track:
That is what I am replacing. The bottom plate in the photo is part of the slide mount.

I have used well nuts for things like that. They're cheap and easy.

Being on the front, how about a small platform also.. you could fasten down with screws then bolt seat to that. It could be cut to be flush with the gunnel whatever length you want.

Having done all of the above I would suggest starting with screws. If they pull out, then go the other routes. My 16-36 which looks very similar to your set up I built a slatted platform that goes back to the second brace can lift in and out used a plate with king pin mount, makes it nice to stand, been in service for 20 yrs. bass pro has a 3 piece set for about $60 free shipping will need a 2 1/2" hole saw. In my 2052 using same plates attached for 2 years now with #14 1" Screws. I do recommend the threaded base and pole, much more stable. I have in the past pulled rivets, bent metal and used ss bolts and washers and locking nuts, boy a pain, so would go with toggle bolts, 0nly problem is could not find in stainless so rust is an issue. best of luck

I would recommend riv nuts, they will certainly hold and are relatively permanent.
