Default 15 hp mercury 4 stroke throttle issue.

Boat was running fine then all of a sudden saturday it would the throttle would only go to about 1/5 open. Took the cover off and manually could push throttle to full power. looks like too much play in linkage or is it a problem with tiller arm links?

Tiller arm sounds like a good place to start investigating

That would certainly be a problem. How much do you have to turn the throttle before it moves the linkage inside the motor?

tightened cables and that solved it. Actually the tiller are was moving throttle at first and then stopped at about 1/5
