    With a 24volt system (running 2x12volt in series as the OP is) you certainly will. Modern motors with circuit board control will generally not even start if you don't have a min voltage of about 18volts. When connected in series, one battery can't "carry" the load of the other. Now in a truck where a dual system is 2 batteries in parallel I'd agree with you.

    Check your warranty on new battery purchases. Many deep cycle marine batteries have a very short warranty period.

    And if you really get confused and want an unbiased opinion, message Catfan on the Kentucky board. Electrical engineer and works with commercial and industrial batteries for a living. He’s always shortened my learning curve.
