I am thinking water in the fuel also. Would have been my first thought anyway. I would hook it too a gas can with new fuel and see if it still did it after it had a chance to get the new fuel into the system
Hadn’t run engine in a couple of weeks. Started off as normal and ran that way for about 15 minutes. Then the engine bogged down while running 4,000 rpms, then ran smoothly, then bogged down again.
Boat has a water/fuel separator and half a tank of fuel. I was thinking it was fuel related as I could run at 3,000 rpm with only a slight bogging down every so often, but faster and it was dogging down more rapidly. Run then issue, then run again.
Any ideas ?
Maybe they will bite this one……

Had a similar problem with my 90hp Merc ... mechanic checked it out and it was some of the triggers going bad. Those were replaced & it runs fine, now.
I thought it was maybe ... water in the gas, bad gas (old), power pack going out, and all sorts of other things. It's a 1999 model and far as I know that was the first time it needed any major repairs (& I'm the 3rd owner).

My fuel/water separator has the clear bowl on the bottom where you can see it and drain water out. Some types have a metal filter on the bottom where you can not see in there or drain it, you just replace it. I HATE those types. I look at mine frequently, even drain a little out from time to time, and find an ant bed to treat with it.
Yep, could be water, maybe not, check it out.
Could be air in the line too

Yup……all I could think about was having to have the engine torn apart to fix it. Boat out of commission for three months. Huge repair bill.
I am so happy I plan to wash it when I get back home. LOL

Those are good reliable engines.
