So I have another question. After I took the carb apart again, I found a video that showed a gy taking a q-tip with some brasso or soft scrub on it, putting it in a drill and cleaning the needle seat. That worked great and the valve no longer sticks. The new issue is it doesn't like to idle after running for a bit. First run it does great and I can run across the water with ease. Once I slow down or shut it off, it doesn't want to idle well. It wants to die when I put it in gear. I adjusted the idle screw but that did not help much. I read and watched some vids on how to adjust the idle and the air fuel mixture, which helped some. Took the barb off again and discovered one of the return springs was not attached correctly. Fixed that and it does some better. Kind of frustrating. It idles too fast for my liking now. But even with the idle screw backed way off it still idles fast. On a car I would say there's a vacuum leak, but I really don't see how that is possible on this.
Also, during all of this, I had a big tub of water for the motor to be in so I would get prop resistance to get a better idea how it would work in the lake. I never did get water out the pee hole even though I had the ear muffs on and the motor was in the tank. I checked the line and it is not plugged. I am feeling a money pit coming on...
One more thing. I read during my research for this that the gas tank vent is supposed to be open when the motor is running. Mine does not have a vent. Possibly the porr fuel pump is having trouble pulling gas since there's some negative pressure in the tank after running a while?
