I have used Seafoam in 2 stroke outboards and in my truck fuel tanks for 30 years. While I have not had an issue... I believe sometimes others have. What I hear is that people have used Seafoam with old fuel lines and thought their old fuel lines broke down putting tiny pieces of fuel line into carbs. I can see how that can be true, I replace fuel lines every 2 years. I also use a water separator/ fuel filter just before the engine, still plenty of fuel line after filter... Ethanol in gasoline has been an issue for lots of boat owners.

Come to think of it I had to replace the fuel pump on a Yamaha 25 I had years ago after a healthy dose of Seafoam. It was a new to me motor. It could have been purely coincidental as well. It try to not run ethonal in my small engines or outboards. I am sure you end up getting some

The small tohatsu carbs. And the Honda carbs. have very small. Fuel passages. We have agitated, heatedtank that will hold 3 carbs. I find the 1 gallon can of gunk at local parts store. Those small passages have to soak for 4 hours no plastic or rubber.

If it's a mercury, and has grey fuel line that should be first to go in trash

The Honda Dealer said they used a Hot tank to clean my carbs. Whatever they did they got my carbs working pretty good, the boat sat for 7 years before I got it.. I also had the Trim and tilt totally rebuilt due to leaks from old dried out seals..

Sounds like the dealers are using ultra sonic cleaners on those carbs from the description.

I think so, but I don't remember exactly what he said.. They did replace some parts on mine other than the jets and floats

Around here, the mechanics are just parts changers. Hardly find one that actually works on motors.
They just prefer to plug in their computer and run a diagnostic check.
Whatever the computer says is wrong they replace. Don’t think your motor is computer compatible but not sure. You could just turn up the idle screw while in the water, not on a hose, and using the tach, set around 800 rpms. Go from there.
Most dealers won’t even work on motors over 10 years old.
Glad to see your place replaced the jets, needle and seat, and floats.
