After doin some googling I found plenty of info on replacing a relay, I'm wondering if the relay is getting sticky, and if so where its located for replacement? I will probably have the boat out again this weekend if see if it acts up again. last Sunday I was dodging stumps in a creek off the Ohio river in Indiana.

If your pump is running while trying to trim it up and down the relays are not the problem. The relays control the hydraulic pump if the pump does not run or intermittent then it is a relay switch.
