Have you considered pulling and soaking the old carb and either rebuilding the pump or just buying a new one and keeping the old one as a spare.

I have a 2007 Merc 50 HP outboard that has been sitting at a mechanic for over 2 weeks and keep hearing that they have not gotten the parts yet. However, I see that I can order the carb and fuel pump parts and have in about 3 days. Is there anyone in the Central KY area that works on motors that would be interested in looking at and fixing this motor for me?
Thanks..

I have not! When this all started I was told by the mechanic it would take a couple of days to get the parts. It is now 2 weeks later and I'm getting flustered... I may have to look into your idea tho.. I'm a newb when it comes to boats and motors.. LOL
Fairly simple just unbolt it, unhook the throttle and disconnect the hoses and soak it in a carb cleaner solution. Just don't touch of the setting screws if it was running properly before. The bolt back up
