Default Seating for a jon boat

My jon boat is past due for an upgrade in seating. It`s an older model Loweline with metal bench seating.

I`ve selected the actual seat I want but I`ve noticed there are a few options on mounting the seat to the bench.

    1. https://www.amazon.com/ECONOMY-JON-B.../dp/B006MIXO4S Is a clamp that fits over the bench

    2. Is just buying the swivel bracket and screwing it directly into the aluminum bench.

Anyone have thoughts as to what they prefer?

    Thanks to all who reply

Much cheaper at Bass Pro, buy two and shipping free...
Bass Pro Shops Jon Boat Seat Clamp | Bass Pro Shops likely less other places. Marine Raider Adjustable Boat Seat Mount | Academy or ???
I have two that we use in the paddle jon, issue we had was hit something or rough water the clamp would pop loose, PIA. However we now have a rachet strap that we cut down to fit, ran under seat no more issues. It works fine, especially to decide where we want seats, but the pin type are better once you are sure where you want them

Either a conventional pole type mount, or something like this. I never liked the clamp mounts, always found them to be rickety, squeaky, or otherwise annoying.

The Slider - Slider G5 - Slider Boat Seat - Jon Boat Seat Mount
That looks pretty slick, in our paddle jon we are constantly adjusting to balance with loading, the front may be a person from 50 to 300 lbs which greatly affects the balance of the boat.

I use a similar system by Swivel -Eze on the rear bench but use a Wise Spider up front works great.

The "Spider Seat Mount" allows easy access to my poles and trolling motor.

In the other jon we use the spider seats, we have a cam strap to hook to bottom so they stay put when trailering and you have a good seat to use in your deer stand or at camp

Bass pro has a PVC swivel base they sell for about $20.
It allows for removing the seat from the boat, with just the base part of it still attached to the boat.
The rest of it is attached to the seat bottom.
Ive had them on my Jon boat for 2 years now and they still work well and are easily removed and put back in place.
Of coarse since its PVC there are no rust issues.

I would never use the clamp style seats and here is why...About 3 years ago a friend and I were crappie fishing a small, maybe 45 acre lake that is open to the public. Trolling motors only allowed. There was an elderly man in a 14’ jonboat motoring across the middle of the lake with his transom mounted MinnKota. He leaned over to get something behind him and the clamp slipped off the bench. He went overboard with no life jacket on and could not swim. I happened to be looking right at him when this happened and immediately threw my rod in the bottom of the boat, jerked up the trolling motor and fired up the Yamaha. He was probably 150 yards away and had already went under a couple times while we were headed to him. When we got there he was face down, about 18” under the surface and headed down. My buddy grabbed the back of his shirt and we beat it to the bank. He was fine after coughing up some water. I broke the rules by starting my gas motor but if I hadn’t, he surely would have drowned. Another fisherman caught up with his boat and returned it to him. The good Lord was with us for sure that day! The gentleman has since sold his boat and now bank fishes only. And that is why I would NEVER consider using a clamp style seat.
