Just a thought, wouldn’t a cherry picker work?

Chet, does the flywheel have a threaded hole in the middle? If so, that is the lifting hook. You get an eye-bolt of the same thread size and thread it down in there. I don't know if modern motors still have them but an old Evinrude I had years ago had one.

i checked and even called Mercury, there are no provisions to lift the motor. i already have a crane set up in my basement and a hoist, i did make an improvement to the set up that attaches to the motor, rather than 2 straps like one in front and one in the rear, i added 2 in the rear , this makes it a 3 point strap. works much better and does not have a tendency to flop to the side,

The one in the shed here is a 1100#, it is 15" long, 6 wide and 10" tall, have it on a pole so i can slide to position better. Have one at camp to hoist Deer about the same size, lift mowers many uses.
