Default MERC oil light on problem

2008 Merc 4 stroke 20hp. Hasn't been started since last summer. OIL light on constant. Oil good, pees good, but in the rev limit mode. Wasn't used much if any last year because of knee replacement, me, not the boat.

Verdict and options. I have limited use of my right hand. Can't do much.

Tom, look at this diagram. #28 is listed as a switch and I’m pretty sure it’s oil pressure switch. Figure it may just be stuck from sitting. Might put something against it and tap it lightly and get it to unstick or just replace it. If not that then next would be something in computer box but I’d go to that switch first.

Cray, you a wizard! A gentle tap did it. This engine has low hours. Should the sensor be replaced? This boat isn't used much.

Hey just glad it worked. I wouldn’t worry about it unless it keeps doing it.. yes they are same part. Your power head was most likely built by Tohatsu. They built a awful lot of 40 and below for Merc powerheads and May still build them. Only difference I know between the 2 motors is on some electronics are a little different and on some only thing different is outer skin.

Merc is sure putting the screws to folks on parts. I guess it pays the bonuses for the buzzards atop the totem pole.
