Is it under warranty? My first guess just from the sound is drive motor shaft slipping in turn gear. Never heard one make that sound before.

Is this normal? I loved the auto pilot feature but this noise drove me crazy. I'm kind of disappointed.

Then I’d be trying to get it to a service center. That is not normal. I understand in these times it might not be easy to do but wouldn’t touch it myself under warranty.

I got it to a service tech today who appeared be very knowledgeable. He has like 40 years experience working with their motors. He said it should not be doing that and he was able to turn it with his hands I think is what he said and he shouldn't be able to do that.

Thanks for threading that. When you get some answers please report what it was.

Your Ipilot is set to advanced. Change it to normal on the old units or legacy(sp) on the later units and your problem will go away. This is done on your
remote.
Tell'em I'll be there.
On the older models, hit the N key twice. INI is advanced, N is normal. On the newer models, hit options, right soft key, if Ipilot doesn't show up hit home
and hit the left soft. When Ipilot shows up hit the check mark then chose legacy and hit the check mark again. I can do it on my motor and think I am telling
you right. If this is not the proper procedure, call MinnKota and ask them how to change this setting.
