    Default Wiring trolling motor

So I ordered a bow mount trolling motor which I've never had. My boat is pretty basic and doesn't have a receptacle upfront to plug a trolling motor into. I plan on getting a 6-gauge set of jumper cables and using that wire to run back to my battery. Is there a way I can connect the 6-gauge wire to the lead wires from the trolling motor and be able to disconnect it if I need to without getting a receptacle?Name: IMG_20200412_194804975.jpg

You'll need a breaker close to the battery. That can serve as your power disconnect.

I ordered that but I need to run the wires back to my battery at the transom so trying to figure out the best way to connect the wire I'm going to buy to the wires on the trolling motor.

Here is one way to connect two dissimilar size wires. You can find right size at Lowe’s or Home Depot.
Split Bolt Connectors - Wire Connectors - Grainger Industrial Supply

Here is another way, get 2 of these that way you can disconnect them.

I like that second one but can the wire coming form the trolling motor be smaller than 6 with this?

Yes it can, but it would require you to fill the opening wire goes in with solder. If I was building this I would try taking wire from trolling motor, strip off a little e tra cover and fold over wire to insert into spade.

They also make what is called a step down butt connector. Don't know if they have the size you need.

I had issues with my standard trolling motor plug burning on the front I replaced it with a 220 twist lock type plug used on stoves etc going on 14 years and not one problem.
