Default Putting ipilot on smaller boat

Okay guys I have a smaller boat 1973 Mon ark that is 16 ft and 57 seven I think at the widest point. I do a lot of long-line trolling and I currently use a transom mount 45 lb thrust variable speed Minn Kota. I have never looked at I pilots because I thought you had to go at least 24 volts and I didn't want that. I discovered that they make a 12-volt ipilot and I'm seriously considering that if it will work on my boat. From the pictures you can see the bow does not have much to connect it to. I assume I could add some wood upfront to connect it to? I would probably only run it while sitting back by the transom with the remote. Do you guys think I can get this to work on my boat?Name: IMG_20200412_194804975.jpg

You sure can. That’s a awful stout piece on the front. Either make an extension out of a piece of flat metal or cut a piece of 3/4 ply to shape of what you have extending back a few inches. Bolt bracket through ply and that front metal and then back part of bracket to ply with a backing plate under it. Should work just fine. My 55 12 volt pulls my boat just fine. Hope this helps.

Trust me 55# thrust is plenty for your boat . I'd strongly recommend the Ipilot version. The auto steer, cruise, and spot lock are must haves for trolling.

I have the 12 volt Ipilot on mine. Been perfect for close to 10 years. I'd suggest the quick disconnect mount by Minkotta too. I have a very small deck land mounting the puck is so much easier than the whole motor .

Looks like one more thing I will have to buy. Am I going to have to mount some type of an outlet to plug into also? I was hoping I could just run wires back to my battery.

The mount is well worth the money with simplifying installation plus if you need to take it off it's a 30 second job. Fear not theft, it can be locked in place and almost impossible to steal.
My boat was prewired. You can wire to suit your needs. Do need to put a 50 amp breaker at battery though.
