Here's 2 of my old brake tools, and are different from yours. The smaller one is perhaps the one some in here are referring to.
The longer of the tools has the spring and seat tools on it for your review.
Sorry guys, those are not even close. I have about 10 different versions of the top picture and 4 different versions of the bottom plyers type brake tools. The picture I posted is about half the length of those and has a chisel on 1 end and a scratch awl type point on the other end. Sent from my SM-G970U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
I believe it's just a drum brake adjustment tool with a different design from mine. Mine similar to yours is a "Double Ender" bent to different angles to get to the star adjusters that the location might be slightly different. The pointed end on yours may be to help "Walk" the spring down to the center post pried under tension.
I have done brake work over 40 years, and since the introduction of self adjusters, I have had no need for those tools. I use a large pair of long nose Kline pliers that I call "Gators" that handle drum brakes and springs like a breeze.
Hey, maybe we should start a thread on old tools not used much anymore - like my Silver Beauty "Growler" used to check generator or starter armatures?
i no it can be used for brakes, but after seeing this post i was at NAPA an saw that tool in a package with some other product, but i cant remember what is was.(lots of help) will look next im at napa an post.
When I was issued my jet engine tool box in 1969 this tool was inventoried as a cotter pin extractor. The flat end was for bending the prongs out the pointed end was for prying the pin out. I still have it.
