Water is coming out the thermostat hole!

You mean the temp sensor goes bad a lot? Ahh, that would be great. And the cleaning the motor got is good too, really needed it. And some head bolts at the bottom were really corroded. In two years I'd be they would not come out at all, so lots of anti seize should take care of that problem.
Oh, anyone know what temp these engines should run at. I have one of those point and shoot temp gauges, I could run it and check the temp if the alarm sounds. I do have a sensor coming, but it'll be three or four days. And I wanna fish.....!

All this reminds me that I unplugged my sensor over a year ago and forgot to replace it. I am going tonight, I will shoot my motor after running and let you know in the morning. Most common failure on our motors is that sensor.

Ed,
Had a over-heating problem w/new Suzuki outboard once, temperature sensor was jumping 40 degrees after warmed up for 10 minutes on plane, computer would tell the cylinders to cut out, long story short a $5 resistor inline cured the situation, think your on to something w/temp sensor...

I’m with the general consensus, the schmutz that had built up didn’t help. My temp sensor is suspect too but I have no thermostat. When it runs WOT for a while the stream is very hot. I have a trip through mine in the near future too. Not because I have a problem, but because I want to be sure I don’t get one later. Mine had lots of salt use. Good luck with it boss..

Well, put it all back together yesterday and ran it. I only did a circle near the house I did not have time. It did not over heat, but I'm not confident that I fixed anything. I'm still awaiting the temp sensor. Thinking that'll fix it. Who knows, maybe the crud I cleaned out put it over the line and made it over heat just a hair. Hopefully I get a chance to run it today for a good test.
