That is normal, going to have some end play on DC electric motor.
Just a question and really may not be an issue. But I'm just trying to remove all the noise that I can. I replaced a prop pin this past weekend and noticed that the prop shaft had a little bit of play in it front to back. Is that a normal thing? If not how do I go about taking the slack out of the shaft. Bushing is seated and good, no movement at all side to side.
Thanks.

There are some good Youtube videos about tsking the noise out of a trolling motor and tuning. Involves loosening the motor bolts and turning the housing to get the quietest smoothest movement out of it. I have done it to an old old Motorguide years ago. Quietened it down considerably.

It's normal as Cray said. Fyi dont over tighten the prop nut and just snug it. That prop pin bends quite easily. I have two powerdrives and they both run quiet once I learned that lesson the hard way.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.CRAPPIE HUNTER 2008 LIKED above post
It's amazing how plastic can bend 1/4" stainless rod but I've sure bent a few of them. I replaced that small smaller before the prop nut with a fender washer (I think that's what it's called same id but bigger od). I tighten it down good then back it off a little. Somebody makes an end cap that's supposed to help but can't remember the name. The repair on those things are very simple. Just gotta put the cone housing back on in the proper orientation.
