    Default Bass Tracker 175

Not sure exactly what year it is, but guessing early 2000. On this boat there is a keel guard riveted from front to back. Well I put water in the boat and had it leak between the keel guard and the boat hull in the front of the boat. Is this boat a two piece hull with the keel guard actually connecting the two pieces? How am I getting water in the hull of the boat from the keel?Name: IMG_1361.jpg

My guess is that the front is a two piece design. If you laid a flat peice of alluminum on the ground, slightly bent it in the center, and then bent the sides up, it would form the basic boat. In the front, you obviously cannot bend it in to a V, so there is a cut or a seem put in to the single piece, When folded up, you get two pieces converging together to form the front of the boat. That Keel is put on to connect the two parts of the front and also form the centerline of the boat. By guess is that the water is more than likely coming from the sealing compound used under that keel.

It "could" be a rivit but I think that the sealant used has broken down over time OR, due to a hard slam or knock has torn or shifted. I think they sell a putty type of material that you can force in that would stop the leak and seal it. Or, you could use one of a hand full of products (silicone) to do the trick.
