I was just scared to drill holes in the boat etc. I got on Youtube and found some good videos of guys doing it all kinds of different ways and found the one that would fit my application. I want to say I was apprehensive just like yourself, but once I dove in, it wasn't bad at all and it gives you a good sense of accomplishment once you get it on the water and see that you COULD do it and you did it by YOURSELF and everything works properly as it should. The word got out that I could install things on boats and people started texting and calling me asking for help. The next week after installing the new Humminbird unit, I had a different guy ask if I could install a trolling motor on his boat. I had never done one before but again, it was just as easy as reading the instructions, tracing the old wires and removing the old trolling motor and replacing it with the new. It can be intimidating but you can do it. You sound like you over analyze things (just like me). Sometimes that's a good thing and other times we just need to jump in! Good luck with it. If I can help in any other way just let me know or send me a PM and I will do what I can to help you.
