I aquired an RDSL-22 1960 40hp outboard motor, but did not have the wiring harness for it. This engine would not fire when it was cranked, but after replacing 7mm plug wires, and filing points,it fires my next step is to replace the float and gasket and all fuel hoses. They are dry rotted. The plug connector that comes out the side is Rectangle about 1.5 x 2.5 but all insulation on wires crumble when you touch them...the 12volt battery wire goes direct to starter,(it must go to a starter soulnoid from outside wiring harness, and to kill the engine you ground the points.
My question is where do you get marine female connectors, I need two for power the male connector measures .250 diameter, and the others measure .125 inch diameter. If I can locate these connectors planning on using a heavy piece of rubber to drill out for each pin connector then plug it into the orignal connector that is there. I am going to install the starter soilnoid inside the engine housing.
