Electric Lube Pump
Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a lower unit lube pump to replace the manual ones that you get from the box stores. Does anyone know of a reliable one that is 12 volts? I've seen the ones that are 60 watts and i don't think this one would work with the heavier lube oil. Also if anyone that has made one from a diy project, i would like to hear about that also. Thanks

I have tried some of the ones that you pump like a grease gun. Quickly discovered that they weren't worth the trouble. Lower units hold so little oil it was faster to use the manual pump you can pick up at wal mart or any marine dealer. Check with a repair shop and see what they use.

For someone that owns one or two boats, the bottle top pumps or having a shop do the service would probably be the most cost saving. I go through several 5 gal buckets of it a year. Used a bucket top pump for years. Went to the CDI brand pump up dispenser last year. Wished I had done that years ago. Works like a pump up sprayer but with the appropriate hose and fittings. Makes servicing an outdrive a breeze.
I'd rather be fishing.
