First off if I didn't mention it, I put over 120 lbs of bricks in the port side rod locker. No significant change in the tilt. The weight of the starter battery (rear/ starboard side) is negligible.

I still own my 40 year old 15' Grumman canoe but don't use it because I don't have the camper add-on I had with the old truck and can't transport it. But I own a 10' Sea Nymph semi-V and use that for most of my fishing which are on smaller waters. Love it, but no good with a partner!

Even if Marathon can rectify the defects I still wonder if I can sell it except at a great loss. I wouldn't even begin to know how to take him to court.

Securing the gas tank is a no brainer. If I was to keep the boat, I would go up in capacity, but that's not going to happen.

I will see what I need (the right size ball) to fit the hitch.

Thanks so much guys - you got my head spinning!
What will be will be and was and **it happened! I just hope the rep from Marathon that I talked to this morning took me serious and will talk to someone before they allow this clown to sell their products the way he has. The internet is a big avenue of communication nationwide - especially fishing forums, and when a customer starts spreading the word that the company doesn't care about design defects or how their boats are sold, sales could be affected negatively.

At least if I get the 90hp Mercury outboard fixed, at least for now I have a good boat to fish from that's stable even in a heavy chop and 20mph wind.

You keep blaming Grumman....all your issues are dealer problems that he and the previous boat owner caused.

If you're not willing or able to chase down the used title issue yourself, hire a lawyer. It shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred for their paralegal to visit the DMV.

You'll need one anyways if the boat turns out to be used, as small claims courts usually max out at $5k. Idk if you can sue for legal cost, but you need to know. Especially if you find someone willing to work for free up front, as they usually want 20%+ of the settlement.

Seems like there were plenty of red flags along the way. It may be cheaper and certainly easier just to pay a local dealer to take care of things.

I have never seen a Grumman boat, but Grumman makes some mighty fine flying machines. Theys takes off and lands on carriers real fine. I lived to tell about it.

Not at all - especially after talking to a rep this morning. The dealer is 90 % of the problem, Grumman a possible 10 %. Oct. will tell if Grumman goes out its way to correct problems, especially the tilt to the starboard and possibly any others I've mentioned. I expect nothing as far as the seller is concerned without me hiring a lawyer. Grumman only sold the basic boat and can't be held responsible, but by allowing the seller to continue selling their boats to other unsuspecting individuals, is not good for their reputation when things go wrong and aren't handled well.

You paid $21k for a possibly new or used boat from a guy working out of his house, where chickens were jumping in your truck. That in itself shows that Grumman isn't concerned with its dealerships' practices or it's reputation. FWIW, I didn't know they were still around, but that is my ignorance.

There are issues with the boat that you haven't gone to the trouble of having the guy you bought it from, another authorized dealer, or any mechanic address.

You recognize that the fault lies with the guy you bought it from. But it seems you expect the manufacturer fix it all, and you're willing to give them a week or so to decide. Grumman isn't obligated to fix anything, since you never took it back to the dealership. I would think they would tell you "No."

Your expectations are not realistic. it seems you were possibly taken advantage of, and are too hesitant to get it sorted properly. Sorry, Sir.

    First things first, venting notwithstanding!
Some of the problems that have been discovered were recent discoveries; boat tilting to the right, something that didn't prevent fishing but that I was willing to wait for Grumman to evaluate and correct. Patience can be a virtue and seeing as I have a two other boats that fit into the back of my truck and waters to fish them, I will take things one at a time and give Grumman a chance to rectify some of those issues after having tested the boat on the water. Some of the problems I can and will fix myself before selling the boat.

Making it seem that the world's coming to an end because I don't go after the shyster or give two hoots what Grumman does concerning him, is not a concern of mine in the long run. Getting rid of the boat will happen but getting my Ranger Merc engine fixed is at the top of the list. Buying another boat to my liking if the Merc doesn't stay fixed will be the next eventuality.

Don't assume - you know what they say about that - SIR....

Future reports to follow seeing as how many have shown interest.
