    Default 75 hp mercury

I have a 75 hp Mercury on a 17 ft tracker targa which is a pretty deep boat. When we have 3 or 4 guys and the livewell full it doesn't have enough power to plane out. Do you think I have a motor issue? Or just not big enough or could I re prop? I have the original prop on it it's an 02 two stroke.

Do you have a tach? If so what are RPM's light load and what with heavy load. My first guess would be it is over prop'ed for carrying heavy load. I'd drop 1 if not 2 sizes in pitch for those days you know your going to be loaded heavy. Dosnt take 10 minutes to swap prop. Find someone if you can that has a smaller prop and try it and see what it does. What size prop do you have.

Most aluminum props will have the numbers (diameter / pitch) stamped on the barrel on the outside somewhere, if not you will have to pull the prop and it should be on the hub.

It's a 13" x 19 pitch Mercury OEM prop, so yes that will help Cray a bit, he's struggling with lawn work at the moment

Might wouldn't hurt to be prepared and all, if you can trim the motor down and show pics of the lower unit height in comparison to the bottom of the transom. I had a 1652 G3 I couldn't ever get propped right and we believe (Cray and I) that the motor was set just a bit high on the transom after trying 2 props, a lot of variables go into getting a motor, prop and boat all working in unison just perfectly with the variable loads and conditions of everyday fishing.

That 19 is to big for that boat on a 75. I would be looking for 5700 rpm with no load and around 5400-5500 loaded. You need to find a 13 x 17 prop to try to start with. Also like Snubby said need a picture of how mounting bracket is sitting on transom and a shot of cavitation plate in relation to bottom of boat. Like Snubby said also I'm fighting a lawn sweeper in this heat so will get back quick as I can.
