    Default Voltage Regulator

So after I tore apart carbs and cleaned and put back together I ran boat on the water.....Running great then it died while going half throttle... Took hood off and 2 of the wires coming off of stater harness were melted at the quick connectors.. Traced wires down to the voltage regulator....repaired and replaced quick connects and ran boat and ran good...Pulled off water and checked voltage regulator and was hot.....Could regulator be going bad and reason why wires melted at quick connects?

    Thanks.....TT

It is a common issue for those regulators to get hot. Also, the bullet style connectors are bad about getting hot enough to melt their protective covers. Be sure to separate the wires to allow air flow around them. They came from the factory tightly bundled which would lead to them making electrical contact with one another once the insulators melted.
