Default Looking at a ranger rt188c or a war eagle tomahawk 961

I looking at a couple of boats one being 2015 rt188c with Mercury 115 4 stroke. And other is a 2015 war eagle tomahawk with 150 etec. I like features of both boats. I've been running yamaha f150 on a big deckboat that I've sold....so the Mercury I'm more comfortable with as I have never been around the etecs. Both boats have the side by side seating for spider rigging. The war eagle only has the rear livewell and has carpet. The rt is rawhide model. I'm looking into these boats to crappie fish and use for my sons school bass tournaments. Thanks for any insure. I do like the 18* hull on the eagle. But that seems to be the only thing I like over the rt.

The War Eagle in my opinion is a better boat ( if it had a different motor) .
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

kinda thought that too. This will be an upgrade from a 1648 weldbilt with a 25 Yamaha tiller. I think the rt will do me and my two young boys fine. Will be a lot more stable than what we have now.

If you go with the Ranger check the transom for cracks in the aluminum.......just saying.

War Eagle is a good boat but I have never run one - I have sold and run the Ranger RT188 for several years. I have owned and drove a lot of different alum boats - the Ranger is at the top of the list. The boats don't sound like a alum boat running on plain - they have a lot of foam injected in them from front to back. They are very stable in the water and I have owned a Merc 115 four stroke - great motor. Another thing about the War Eagle is the Evinrude - in this area it is difficult to get a Evinrude serviced - just not a lot of dealers around. Don't think you would go wrong with the Ranger - feel free to contact me - I am not an expert but have just spent a lot of time on the water in one of the alum Rangers.

The War Eagle is the better boat as well as the E-tec over the Merc. Think Corvette (War Eagle Tomahawk) quality, handling and speed, to a Dodge mini van (Ranger). Both will get the job done, but come on now.

I own a War Eagle with a Mercury motor. Would buy another without question.

    Unsure about the E-tec though.

    Thumbs up

    2017 RT188C with 2017 115 Yami SHO 4 stroke here.

No complaints with either. Just be forewarned.... with the "C" model, not much room for storage (compared to the regular RT.). The front livewell does away with a lot of that. Doesn't matter to me, as I'm strickly chasin' crappie. The SHO maxes out at about 46 mph with me in it (I'm not chasin' top speed awards, either.)
I'm tickled with mine... just gotta train it to find the fish for me.
