    Default MInnkota Edge 70

just purchased a used Edge 70, 24v. No signs of abuse. I have cleaned and tightened all connections including foot pedal. Seems to have max power thru all speeds, but sometimes after running awhile if I stop then try to go it won't turn on. If I lift motor up a little then drop back down it will run normal again. Also seems to drain batteries quicker than it should. I have always been told 24v easier on batteries than 12v as long as not running high speed. Any suggestions???

pull the prop off and check to see if there's line wound around the prop shaft. if not that might be bad brushes in the motor.
hope this helps you as either one of these will drag your batteries down quick.

I had the same thing happen to mine, it was a loose wire that hooks to the armature commutator. I found the loose wire and soldered it, still working after three years.

No fish line, pulled motor apart and really didn't find anything. Ordered new seals, brushes etc. Cleaned armature. Hope it helps
