My father worked at an ethanol research facility for a while, one of my siblings works at an oil refinery. Neither are fans of ethanol. Do they use it? Yes, they have no choice. And no, my brother does not get to fill his vehicle up at work. He has to buy it, at a station, just like you and me.
I've checked online for ethanol free pumps in Illinois, not many around here.
As for it's "in demand" , is it? It's very easy to say that when it's the only choice. Closet ethanol free pump to me is 28 miles away, with alot of stations in between.
My personal experience, on a previous boat, was not using any "additives". It took about two years of using ethanol, then I had problems. I went through upwards of 30 gallons a year. Cleaned the carb, replaced fuel lines, started using additives. No more problems.
It's what works for me.
