Default Minn Kota trolling motor problem

My trolling motor runs about two hours without any problem, after this, it only runs in fastest speed #5. Settings 1,2,3,4 will not run.
Let it sit several hours and it works normally for another few hours. Your imput would be appreciated, Thanks Joseph

Check the connections on the wires going to the speed control switch. Those push on spade connectors could be loose causing them to heat up or your speed control switch itself is going bad. When you put it on 5 you are more or less bypassing the speed control portion of the switch and making a direct connection from motor to battery.

What Cray said. Also, pull the prop and see if you have line wrapped around the shaft causing it to overheat.
