    Default Evinrude Etec 25 hp

Im in the market looking for a new motor and found a slightly used 2013 25 hp. My question is can that 2 stroke motor idle all morning long like a 4 stroke without fouling the plugs. Ill be using it to pull crank baits. Second question the 2017s are running in the $4000 range what would be a fair offer on that 4 yr old motor?

You shouldn't have problems with it fouling plugs. These modern motors especially the etec are computer controlled on fuel and oil mixture nothing like the old motors. I would get serial number and see if you can find out if any work has been done or if there are any recalls associated with it. Ishtar be able to do that on line at their web site or see if you could find a dealer who would do it for you. On pricing think I would take 10% a year off and see how that looks and try blue book and see if you can get a price. At lest that would give you a starting point.

I have a 97 40hp Evinrude and don't have any issues with fouled plugs.

I know this thread is a little old, but I checked into the etecs when I bought my last boat. They were designed for trolling for long periods of time. I have been told they are as good if not better for idle trolling over extended time periods.

I was in 17' aluminum boat with a 75hp 2-stroke E-Tec last week while trolling for Walleye. We trolled for hours at 2mph, never a hiccup. I want one.
