I bought a Moeller, but never got around to installing it ... so I gave it to my buddy for his boat. Moeller & Racor seemed to be the better looking models, and have the clear bottom drainage cups. 10micron filter is the standard.

They are larger than what you might think (or what I thought), so be sure you have a way & place to securely mount them in line with the fuel hose ... without putting much bend in the hose. Otherwise you may have to buy a fuel hose and cut it to length.

They all do what they are intended for , I would suggest maybe installing a Merc, Bombardier or Yamaha, reason being, it will never give you problems at home, nope at the lake every time, so having a dealer close buy , they should have a replacement filter on the shelf, may not stop other brands, difference between being back on the water or towing it home to go buy or order an after market filter

Definitely something to consider. My plan was to store a spare filter in a sealed container , onboard.

Hello: I installed a Moeller. Get one with the clear bottom and drain so you can check it for water and drain it out before leaving to go boating. I monitor mine and just replace it every spring. It's just like changing an oil filter except you drain it first then remove it , then remove the clear plastic bowl which you place on the new filter. Keep an extra filter on hand when I replace the filter I fill it with fuel so it will be easy to start. Good Luck . O - R. .

I use a Yamaha screw on and change it once a year when servicing the engine. Easy to install and change the filter. To me, it's a cheap insurance plan of keeping the water out of the engine.

That's my thought , every outboard I've ever owned for any length of time eventually got a taste of watered down gas. No mater how much treatment I used. Last time it was over 200.00 to get 3 carbs opened up , all over water. I have a EFI 4 stroke now , I suspect their less susceptible to breaking over a little water but I'm not sure . Cheap insurance the way I see it. Nothing I hate more than breaking down on big water 10 miles from the ramp in 15 mile a hour wind , with my family in the boat.

I had a Sierra separator on my old boat. It worked real good. New boat has a Yamaha unit. There are plenty of good ones out there to pick from.
