Nope, no bearings are maintenance free.

my Alumacraft has a Heritage trailer. This trailer has vault hubs. Guaranteed for 5 years, 10 if I buy extended warranty. They are pressurized somehow, if no grease/oil leaking out, no water can get in. Don't know about mileage, but mine are 6 plus years old, havnt touched them

I own three Alumacraft boats. Wouldn't buy one unless it came with an Eagle trailer. All Eagle trailers have greasable hubs. Meaning... YOU perform your own maintenance and put grease in them yourself!

I've listened to a ton of dealerships and sales persons BS over the years. I've caught them more times than not, telling you (or someone else) the capabilities of something that either are a total fabrication or a figmentation of the trueth. I know these people are "supposed" to be professionals however they seldom are. One day a car salesmen, the next day a boat salesman. More than likely don't even own a boat.

As for the Guarantee for 5 years... do they guarantee nothing will happen to them for 5 years or guarantee that they will fix it IF something happens. All an extended warranty will do is ensure it gets fixed WHEN something happens. More than likely be sitting on the side of the road waiting for help just like the above!

Nothing in the boating industry is maintenance free. I say again NOTHING. We change lower unit oil yearly. We change engine oil yearly (some of us more than that). We check batteries, clean electrical connections and so on. With trailers, we "should" be checking our lug nuts for torque every 3500 miles, greasing our bearings often, checking our electrical connections, and ensuring proper air in the tires (all that information has been given to me with every trailer I've ever purchased).

Sorry they had the issue but it sounds to me like someone listening to a sales person that had no clue as to what they were talking about. Part sales person issue, part dealership issue, and part owner issue!

the info I posted came from heritage trailers, not boat dealer. I agree it's only a repair, no one can guarantee a no failure including your hubs that you grease. Does anyone know the rpm of a wheel bearing at interstate speed????? They are spinning. I think Heritage is the only one using this hub system, doesn't mean that's what's on the broken trailer.

I've learned after dealing with trailers for a number of years that it's a good idea to keep an extra set of bearings (inner and outer), races, grease and seals in the truck. Don't necessarily have to replace the races in a pinch, but I can change out the bearings and seals in a matter of a few minutes and be on the road again.

The hubs on the trailer he said were vortex they are greasable and they had been greased they are supposed to last like 7 years or 100,000 miles he always checks them while towing and everything seemed fine until it cooked about 25 miles from home, they got it repaired and home yesterday!

A 100,000 mile promise sounds real good... until you're sitting on the side of the road crying. $2 worth of hub grease is way cheaper.

A word of advice, trailers with the vault system on them do last a long time but they have a catch, when cold the grease is black, but once warm going down the road it becomes almost oil like similar to UFP oil bath hubs which are also great but not invincible, so in saying that, regular wheel bearing grease and vault grease is not the same and not interchangeable, something to remember if you have this system on a trailer
