    Default 1998 Force 40 hp

Hey fellas I have a couple questions about this motor. First off I know very few people liked the force motors, but do know a couple guys that bought new tracker boats that had them and didn't have any problems, these were the last year or two that mercury made them.
First question, can you still get parts for this engine?
Second, will the foot off of this 98 forty horse power Force fit on a Mercury ? I've been looking for a jet drive outboard and found a tracker boat that the guy said it came from tracker with a jet. He changed it over to a prop later and still has the jet drive .. I'm thinking hard about buying it,( mainly for the jet drive). Any suggestions or pointers to look for? It has the prop on it now, I will ask for him to put the jet drive on it and a lake test before I purchase it
    HEY,,WATCH THAT YELLOW ROD

A little history about Force/Chrysler/Mercury motors:

Force Outboard Motors were initially manufactured by Chrysler Marine until 1984, when Chrysler's outboard division was sold to U.S. Marine, which would later become part of Mercury Marine. Prior to being acquired by U.S. Marine, Force Outboard motors were marketed under the brand Chrysler Outboard.

Secondly - yes parts are still available. Not as common as OMCs (Johnsons & Evinrudes) but available.

And as far as the Jet Foot fitting you would use the same website but for Mercurys to see if the parts matched.

Plenty of parts available and they are actually very easy to work on as I have discovered messing with a 70hp I have owned for years. I still dislike them though as they are rarely in good condition and despite parts being available they are still high. Its tough spending a bunch on a motor you know will be tough to resell. I rebuilt mine myself and now it still has ignition problems despite a few new electrical parts. It turned into a money pit and I plan on parting ways with it this spring or else I will inevitably dump more money into it lol.
