That looks great! I can see where the good quality marine carpet makes a difference. My 2nd hand boat came with a real cheap outdoor carpet and it has just literally disintegrated. So I think that turned me off to carpet in general but I can see I should now look at a better grade. I'm gonna look at your build pics. It's nice to see and hear what others have experienced and done.

I found a local metal fabrication shop that can get aluminum sheets for me at a pretty good price. I'm going to go by the sign shop on Mon and see what their aluminum composite board looks like, and then I can decide which floor to use.

Let me know which you decide on. I will have to make the same decision on my 24' pontoon. I would need six sheets of 4'X8' to replace the existing plywood floor. It will be a big project but replacing the floor with aluminum would be a huge weight reduction. The previous owner of my pontoon replaced the carpet just before I bought the boat. He used the carpet I mentioned not to use. I have had the boat less than a year and the carpet needs replacing already.

Checked out the ACM panels at the sign shop and really liked them. They are some kind of plastic sandwiched by two pieces of aluminum, lightweight and strong. Lighter than an aluminum sheet. I would have bought a sheet 4'x8' ($62) but my truck was loaded down for the job I was headed to. When at the job I saw some kind of panels outside, they were the same ones I just looked at, used but in good condition. The building owner is going to let me have them, just trade a little work for them. Score. Every once in a while things work out.

Oh yeah, the 1/16 aluminum was going to be $72 for a 4x8 sheet and the 1/8 was $144. Glad I found some used sign panels for free!

Free would be great if I could find it seeing as I would need 6 panels. I was wondering if it were possible to buy the aluminum in a roll instead of a sheet. If I could find it in a roll 8' wide and 24' long then it would be seamless which would make my boat deck have greater structural intregrity. These thoughts do greatly increase the amount of work required just to replace carpet.

    Crappie Wrangler,
One solid piece would be nice but I'm not sure if they make em like that. There is a shop nearby here that refurbishes pontoon boats. I haven't had any dealings with them but you might want to call them to see how they do it and what they recommend doing. They are "The American Pontoon Company" 803-478-boat. Website is americanpontoonlife.com
