what is your wide open throttle rpm? find out what it should be, that's the only way to select a prop
Hey guys! I recently purchased a new to me sv1900 with a 4 stroke Mercury 115 on it. It came with a 14 pitch prop on it. To me, that doesnt seem like quite enough pitch.
Do any of you guys have one of these boats/motors that can add any feedback? The boat is no speed demon but I really havent ran it "hard" either. Im thinking that mid thirties is about all it is gonna do with this prop. If that is all it is gonna do regardless i am ok with that, just was wondering how the boat would respond with a different prop.
Thanks!

The guy that does my engine work said it should be 5200-5800
I dont know if that is spot on but that is what he said. On the mercury prop selector it said this motor would be 5800-6400? My guy said that it sounded a little high?

Do you have a tach? If not kinda peeing in the wind trying to get prop setup right. Most 4 stroke motors need to max around 6000 on top end. I would shot for 5800 one person and 5500 loaded for max performance. Stainless and aluminum are 2 different animals to play with.

Yes, I do have a tach. Last weekend was the first time I have actually fished this boat. The next time out i will check and see what RPM's are at WOT.
Are 14 pitch props common place in a motor of this size?

everything I'm finding for your 2008 is 6000 max, after finding your wot call power tech props, give all info and they will hook you up. I would buy a stainless
OK Bassing_53, I will do that and update this thread. I would like to float it tomorrow but that may be wishful thinking. We will see.
I have a 2015 115hp Mercury 4stroke on a 18'8" triton and I'm running a 20" Laser2 stainless prop at about 5700 RPM at WOT. I'm not sure if yours has the same gear ratio as mine so that could make a difference.
If you're talking about a Lund SV 1900, I had one with a Merc 225 on it. About 54 mph was top speed. You basically have half as much engine. The Lund boats weigh a lot more than their comparably sized competition. I bet the 115 needs a really low pitch prop to get it on plane.
I'm sorry, it is a Sea Pro bay boat. I had read reviews on this boat before i purchased it and after test driving it the day i bought it I installed some trim tabs on it. The boat really responds well with the 12x12 tabs i put on it.
