I installed a 13 gal external aluminum fuel tank in my jon boat. The tank works great, but the 12" mechanical float assembly for the cap fuel gauge is always making a clinking sound. It's especially noticeable when I'm anchored or drifting in calm water and everything is quiet...click-clack, click-clack, click-clack, it NEVER stops. The slightest ripples in the water or me just moving about in the boat get's it going and it's irritating as hell.
I know I could just remove the float and/or the whole assembly below the cap and the noise would stop, but I do enjoy having a working fuel gauge. Anyone else have this issue and figure a way to silence it, but still have it functional. Just curious...
Thanks,
Tim
Every fuel tank that I have seen with that type of gauge make that ticking noise. I just ignored it.
