    to start;
    what I would do before replacing all the seals is put new lower unit oil back in it and replace the rubber washer on the drain plugs that might be where the water is coming from !!!! run it for awhile then check to see if you get the water in the lower unit again!!! if you do then look at replacing seals !!!

    I had my lower unit resealed a couple of years ago and it ran $250, but that was on a 100HP 'rude.

    A lot depends on how good a mechanic you are, do you have the tools, do you have a Manuel. Some lower units require a special tool to remove the outer bearing carrier that holds the seals. Some just have bolts that hold it in. Go to Iboats.com and look up your motor. Usually the parts break down will show that section as it sits and you can get an idea of how it would come apart. Plus you can get your part numbers there.

    If that was my motor I would start by replacing the seal under the water pump before I tore into lower unit and try it. Did you by chance pull prop and check for fishing line behind it that could be around shaft and under a seal lip?

    Love the short video!! Sometimes it just has to be said.

    I can't expand on what's been said so far. It were mine I'd just remove the lower unit and take it to someone and replace every seal it ever dreamed of having. The way my luck runs I would be chasing one seal at a time til I pulled the rest of my hair out. If where you fish is what most of the LA pics I've seen, even more reason. I wouldn't want to be way back in and have things go south.

    I would take it somewhere and have it pressure tested and figure out if and which seals are bad then you know what your in for. As has already been said some require special tools to pull and replace seals.

    Got the problem figured out and the unit taken down and cleaned.
    A bit of work but good for brain n soul.
    Thankfully wasn't the prop seal.
    I'd appreciate any recommendations now on best place to order oil seals, gaskets, boot, etc online. Not worried so much price wise but more for good service.
